Organic peppermint essential oil is an exceptionally versatile oil and is widely used across the world. Peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral, pain relieving, antispasmodic, fungicidal and antimicrobial properties. It can provide relief from headaches, fever, joint and muscle pain, insomnia, and itching. Peppermint oil is also known to deter insects and other pests. I use it to fend off spiders from my vehicle and closet. With the new construction going on in our neighborhood, I use it to soak cotton balls and leave them in my garage to deter mice. It also stimulates hair growth when mixed with your shampoo. As per HealingSolution, peppermint is indigenous to Europe. A hybrid of water mint and spearmint, peppermint has naturalized itself across the globe. Because it naturally contains high levels of menthol and menthone, peppermint oil is used widely in the manufacture of many products including shampoo, soap, deodorants, toothpaste, chewing gum, candy, and tea. Caution: Inhalation and application of peppermint oil on the skin can cause a skin reaction if you are allergic. Use caution when using with the elderly and always dilute with a carrier oil. It should not be used anywhere near the eye area or any mucous membranes as it can burn. NEVER apply neat (undiluted) to the skin. It should never be used in the first trimester of pregnancy or when breastfeeding. The manufacturer recommends a maximum dilution of 5% for topical applications.
